I’m not one of the people who have been radically transformed and lead 50 people to Christ each week. At first I was embarrassed to write anything because I felt like I can’t say that my life has changed. I had to take a step back to see if there really was a change. After looking at the whole school year, I can say ‘Yes’.

The first thing I noticed is I’m actually going out and winning people to Christ and liking it. I’ve gone out with my former church and on a couple of the GAT’s, but now I’m much more comfortable with soul winning.

I haven’t prayed with large numbers of people since I’m mainly going door to door in the projects. I’ve spoken with a large number of people and prayed with quite a few of them. Many were already saved so that opened the door for praying for needs. Door knocking was very hard for me at first. Now I enjoy it.

I’ve started praying with people for healing and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. I didn’t think I’d ever do that. It’s very cool when you’re praying with a person and he starts speaking in other tongues. I’m not sure who’s more excited; him or me!

I think the biggest thing I’ve noticed is that I don’t take rejection personally any more. I have always been a very timid, self conscious person. If someone would walk away without praying, I’d be devastated. This year I’ve had doors slammed in my face, people turn and walk away, people get angry and make nasty remarks and it’s almost like I didn’t notice it.

For me, this is just the beginning. I expect more boldness each time I go on the streets and I expect God to be there with signs and wonders following as His Word goes forth.

I started out frustrated because the area my soul winning group went in was not very productive. People wouldn’t come to their doors. Someone had already prayed the prayer with a lot of them. I found out also that many people think they are Christians just because they go to church, or because they are good, and I have learned to keep going with the script on those people. I am bolder in continuing with the script now.

I have noticed that when I read the script, people’s focus gets locked onto the reading of the script. They literally look they could not move their head when I look up at them, like the Holy Spirit is arresting them. I know the gospel works, I have learned no matter how resistant they are to me while speaking from the script, if I continue, most of the time, and they end up repeating the prayer after me.

In my day to day life, I want to get to where I speak to every single person I come in contact with. I want to be able to not worry about time or if I am running late, if a soul is at stake. I want to see more healings and the power of God flowing freely everywhere I go, so the name of Jesus can be glorified and magnified on this earth! I want to get out into my whole neighborhood so they can be saved. I’m hoping I can get my family to start helping me and get them on fire to win souls. I want to be able to walk in stores and get whole groups saved at one time. I want more boldness in restaurants and everywhere I go to carry the fire of the gospel!

Since I came to RBI and started soul winning I seen the lives of many touched and changed by the Lord and my life and heart has been changed. At first I didn’t understand the importance of just using the script, but I did it anyway. I now realize that it’s the importance of the Word. That the power is in the Word of God. Every time I got off the script it was harder for me to lead someone to the lord. When I just read it, it is easy. God’s Word is where the power is. This was a big lesson to me not just for soul winning but for ministry. The less of me that gets in the way, the more God can do through me.

This year I have had the honor of leading many people to Jesus Christ and praying for them. I have seen many truly touched by Jesus and their eyes turn from dark to light. I have seen some healed and others cry as their hearts are touched by the love of God. And I have witnessed children touched by the Joy of the Lord. The Holy Spirit has showed me that I can trust him and rely on him for boldness and wisdom.

Soul winning started out as a program for us at school but has become of way of life for me. It has helped me to learn to rely greater on the holy spirit and learn to be more sensitive to his leading, not only when I am out soul winning with the church but also when I am at work and on a daily basis. I am thankful to this ministry for pushing us to be obedient to the Word of God and Go share the gospel to the lost. It is an honor to be a witness for Christ. And this ministry has helped me break free from the fear of man and be able to share the word of God. “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16)

Months before I even arrived at the River Bible Institute God had put in my heart the importance of winning souls and a compassion for the lost. There were times when I couldn’t even go to bed at night until I prayed for at least one person. I believe that we all should try to lead at least one person to the Lord each day and hopefully more than that.

It’s amazing how God will even just give you someone to pray for sometimes whether it’s in the grocery store, at work, or going out with teams here at school. Soul winning has definitely changed my outlook on how I view life in general. It’s awesome how the Holy Spirit will use you as a vessel to touch people with the fire of God and that it’s not just limited to a church service. Why just this afternoon I prayed with six young gentlemen on a basketball court just minutes from my house.

Afterwards one young fellow said that he really needed that and said he had been thinking about going to church recently, but Jesus came to him. He didn’t ever have to be in a church service, but hopefully he will start going. If he hadn’t ever gone to church he would have never invited Jesus into his heart. God has definitely given me a compassion and love for the lost and it’s grown even more here at school. R.B.I. is an awesome place to get filled with the power of God so we can go out and pour out to a lost and dying generation.

Soul winning has changed my life and sometimes consumes me and I can’t relax until I pray for someone sometimes because what if that person were to die that very night. One time I prayed with a gentleman and he was dead two weeks later. I believe he is in heaven now. If I had waited or let fear overtake me he might not have made heaven! Sometimes we can get so busy in our daily life or distracted that we miss it, but it’s so very crucial the gospel is preached and people make heaven.
