Months before I even arrived at the River Bible Institute God had put in my heart the importance of winning souls and a compassion for the lost. There were times when I couldn’t even go to bed at night until I prayed for at least one person. I believe that we all should try to lead at least one person to the Lord each day and hopefully more than that.

It’s amazing how God will even just give you someone to pray for sometimes whether it’s in the grocery store, at work, or going out with teams here at school. Soul winning has definitely changed my outlook on how I view life in general. It’s awesome how the Holy Spirit will use you as a vessel to touch people with the fire of God and that it’s not just limited to a church service. Why just this afternoon I prayed with six young gentlemen on a basketball court just minutes from my house.

Afterwards one young fellow said that he really needed that and said he had been thinking about going to church recently, but Jesus came to him. He didn’t ever have to be in a church service, but hopefully he will start going. If he hadn’t ever gone to church he would have never invited Jesus into his heart. God has definitely given me a compassion and love for the lost and it’s grown even more here at school. R.B.I. is an awesome place to get filled with the power of God so we can go out and pour out to a lost and dying generation.

Soul winning has changed my life and sometimes consumes me and I can’t relax until I pray for someone sometimes because what if that person were to die that very night. One time I prayed with a gentleman and he was dead two weeks later. I believe he is in heaven now. If I had waited or let fear overtake me he might not have made heaven! Sometimes we can get so busy in our daily life or distracted that we miss it, but it’s so very crucial the gospel is preached and people make heaven.

After having the honor and privilege of being a part of five Great Awakening Tours, my whole understanding of what soul winning was changed forever. And after coming to bible school here at River Bible Institute God has continued to change me and transform my life through soul winning. This year alone the Holy Spirit has opened my eyes more and more to see people as He does, and to love and He loves.

He has given me boldness in sharing the Script, whereas before I would tend to hesitate and second guess myself. He has taught me to not look at the outward appearance of a person and let their personae fool you, but to step out in faith and open my mouth and share the Gospel, regardless of the circumstances. I’m starting to truly understand now that the Gospel really is the power of God unto salvation, so all we have to do is share that Gospel, and there the power of God will be to save. We don’t have to do anything or try to force anything to happen. It’s the Holy Spirit and the goodness of God that leads people to repentance.

There was one particular day in soul winning this year that really stuck out in my mind. I went with Jake Peterson in a team of about five people to a local neighborhood not far from the church. I knocked on one door and this girl of about twenty years old answered. I proceeded with the Gospel Script and she accepted Jesus as her savior. She then told me of how she and her mother where going through some hard times and that she was just looking for a place to attend church. I gave her the information about the River church and the bus ministry we had, so that very next Sunday she showed up to the Main Event. I didn’t truly realize the impact that we have as soul winners out there on the streets until that moment. After attending the service that Sunday she answered the alter call, was radically touched by God, and even had her broken arm healed. I am so thankful to be a part of a ministry that is making an impact for all eternity.

There are people outside the four walls of the church that need to see that God is real through the lives of soul winners who dare the step out of their comfort zone with the Word and the Fire of God. Souls are hanging in the balance, and I am so glad for every opportunity to see a life changed for all eternity by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Soul winning has become a major part of my life. Usually, I have the privilege of spending two to three hours a week soul-winning. Praise God, I have been able to lead at least one-hundred people to the Lord each quarter of this school year. Not only has God allowed me the ability to lead people to Him on a regular basis, but I have also been able to pray with people who have received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and people who have been healed by the power of God.

As a matter of fact, I want to share about a lady at my local church I attend back home who went up to the altar for prayer and my pastor told me to pray for her, so I laid my hands on her and began to do so. I asked her if she was able to speak in tongues and she said no, she had been trying. I encouraged her to try and she said she couldn’t but I just kept telling her she could and after a couple of minutes I felt the presence of the Holy Ghost come upon us and she began to speak in tongues; hallelujah! I know the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is not an uncommon thing for most believers but it always blesses me to see others get blessed.

Soul winning is definitely a passion and not a program; it is an eternal purpose for life. It has become more of a fun hobby for me that included benefits. I have also been privileged to be a team leader which involves instructing others what to do on soul winning missions. I have also been able to train others in soul winning as well. I am really looking forward to going back to my home town and establishing soul winning teams there.

I had my first soul winning experience at the Great Awakening Tour in Chattanooga, Tennessee in October of 2007. The moment I knocked on that first door and the lady who answered the door prayed and asked Jesus into her heart everything in my life changed forever! I knew instantly that I had stepped into what God had called me to do. I have since had the honor of praying with over a thousand people.

Soul winning is the most powerful ministry and the highest call. I love it because I don’t need a pulpit. I don’t need to wait until I get an invitation to speak at a church. I don’t have to write a book or make a set of CD’s to sell at a conference. All I do is walking out my front door and the world becomes my pulpit. It is a powerful lifestyle of touching people with the power of God and making an eternal difference in their lives. I recently went with a team to the bus depot.

In less than two hours I prayed with twenty-two people. The first person I prayed with was a young man from Asia. I also prayed with teenagers, two older men, a mother and her child, and a woman whose heart was breaking but was smiling and laughing when we finished praying. While I was there a young man approached me and told me he was a Christian and he thought what I was doing was wonderful.

I took a few minutes to show him the script I was using and commissioned him as a soul winner. He immediately began to lead people to the Lord. In less than two hours I saw more people ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior than some churches do in a year. The harvest is plentiful. I pray that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers into the field.

Wow what an awesome service that Sunday the 13th of December. God totally moved, as he always does at The River. People were delivered, set free, healed, and changed forever. It was totally awesome to see the people that call themselves as part of The River mobilized. From the people that help on the bus ministry, who get up extra early just to bring in the people who are less fortunate and don’t have transportation, but want to hear the Word of God. They are hungry for God and The River is definitely a place where they will get fed, to the people who help in the food ministry, packing and distributing the food boxes with love. It truly is so much better to give than to receive. Well I could go on and on about the awesome people at The River and I am so happy and grateful to call myself one of them. That day I helped in the nursery, we had about 45 I and 2 year olds that day, boy was that an adventure, but what a privilege it was to be able to love and nurture those babies who may have never been loved and cared for in such a special way. To be able to pray for them, knowing that God will watch over his Word to perform it in their lives. God is so good! It was a very busy day for all who helped that day, but so well worth it, and what a reward will we all receive in heaven for it! T he harvest of souls was so great that day, and that is what it truly is all about, because that is the only thing we can take to heaven with us, is people. And to think of how simple it is for people to receive eternal life. All we have to do is share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them, be real people and love on them, because just by loving on them, it sets us apart from everyone else. Hallelujah! God is good! And this is only the beginning!
